FoxT Secure Messaging Server
What Does It Do?
FoxT Secure Messaging Server provides a single point of control for managing messaging security. FoxT Secure Messaging Server is easy to implement and manage, completely transparent to the user, and acts as a secure messaging firewall between your company's internal network and the Internet. The FoxT solution also allows company policies for messaging security to be defined at the server level. FoxT Secure Messaging Server provides everything you need to set up a centrally-based encryption solution.
Key Features:
- Encryption - FoxT Secure Messaging Server offers both OpenPGP and S/MIME capabilities, ensuring the arrival or departure of encrypted, un-tampered email. Messages are automatically encrypted/decrypted at the server, saving users time and avoiding the frustration of mastering encryption software.
- Key Management - All keys and certificates are stored at the server level allowing for central administration and easy key management. Secure Messaging Server can manage both an organizational key pair and individual keys, saving time and providing an added level of protection. Individual users don't have to remember to use the keys or where they are located.
- Authentication/Digital Signature - Verifies the authenticity of the sender to ensure confidentiality and prevent "spoofing", an situation where an importer fakes the identity of another sender. Authentication also verifies that the message has not been tampered with or changed.
- Digital Certificates - FoxT Secure Messaging Server provides capabilities to create your own digital certificates for email use or use externally generated X.509 standard certificates.
- GnuPG (PGP) Support - Supports GnuPG for automatic OpenPGP encryption/decryption, signing/verifying, and key management. GnuPG can be automatically invoked based on email policies, thereby providing full company-wide OpenPGP support controlled from one central point.
- Email Virtual Private Network - Creates a messaging Virtual Private Network (VPN) using the Internet or other public networks such as dial-up or ISDN lines. This enables you to secure your messaging network so that messages aren't stored on the Internet.
- Virus Scanning - FoxT Secure Messaging Server automatically checks all text and email attachments of both inbound and outbound messages for viruses, using the third-party virus scanning software of your choice. Many of today's popular programs are supported by the FoxT solution including Norton AntiVirusTM, McAfee VirusScan, Dr. Solomon's, and others. Multiple virus scanning software may also be run simultaneously.
How Is It Used?
FoxT Secure Messaging Server features a powerful content filtering engine that takes a look at the sender, receiver, and message content of an inbound or outbound email message and performs any or all of the following actions:
- Filtering - Email can be filtered by sender, receiver, IP-number, keywords, or word combinations.
- Domain Filtering - Prevents documents from being sent to a competitor or other specified address. Location filtering puts an end to unwanted commercial email blasts or spam.
- AutoDisclaimer - A disclaimer can be used allowing companies to send tailored messages with every email. This feature is ideal for law firms or large organizations with strict legal requirements regarding email communication.
- Archiving - Messages can be archived by sender, receiver, or content.
- SPAM blocking with RBL Support - FoxT Secure Messaging Server supports RBL lookup on both subscription-based and free public RBL domains. Suspected spam can then be blocked from entering your organization's email system. Administrators can also create their own in-house RBL lists (with access to a DNS server) providing more control over blocking unwanted email.
- Spam Blocking with Grey list Support - Grey listing is a new weapon against spam. With this new shielding method, you can block out significant amounts of spam. Each time FoxT Secure Messaging Server receives an email from an unknown contact, that mail is rejected with a "try again later" message. This happens at the SMTP layer and is transparent to the end user. This means that all mail gets delayed at least until the sender tries again-but this is where spam loses out! Most spam is sent out using simple SMTP senders designed to send as many messages as possible in a short amount of time. If they encounter a server that returns a temporary error, most of these senders will just give up instead of wasting time on storing the message and trying again later.
